| Objectives
Short-term mission teams work towards long-term goals as the first-contact is made with the local people. Evangelism, children's ministry and work projects are a few of the ways that teams work to strengthen the local body of Christ. Teams build and maintain relationships with local church leaders in an effort to reach the lost and forgotten of the Dominican Republic. As we venture into isolated villages and uncharted territory, we seek to find neglected groups of people, specifically in the mountain areas. The team will share the great gift of salvation while simultaneously meeting their spiritual and physical needs.

Description
Teams fly into the capital city, Santo Domingo and then travel half a day to the northwest border of the Dominican Republic and Haiti. The primary focus of the expedition is to minister and work in the area of Los Almacigos to encourage and empower the local pastors. During this time we will continually travel further into the rural areas to help these people. There are many people in this area that are isolated by geography and have little contact with outsiders. They are open to visitors and willing to hear the word of God. This proves as an excellent opportunity to share the love of Christ in an area where Catholicism is the primary religion. Also, there will be many opportunities to work with the local children.
After days of ministry in the mountains, we will travel to the city for the remainder of the trip. While in Santo Domingo, we will visit the historic area known as the 'First city in the Americas' and also visit the house of Christopher Columbus' son. Also, if time permits there will be a visit to the mammoth, underground caves of 'Tres Ojos.' The last day we will visit a pristine beach of the Caribbean Sea where you can relax, go snorkeling, or other exciting options.
