Objectives

Catholicism is the primary religion in Mexico and we will be working with the local pastors to strengthen and encourage the church. We will travel up into the Sierra Madre Mountains, using our specially outfitted 4x4 expedition vehicles to reach the isolated villages. During the days we will do evangelism in the towns and at night we will organize larger gatherings of those who have come to know the Lord. This is an opportunity for them to be introduced to other believers and learn basic biblical principles. This will help to keep the believers connected to the body of Christ and help encourage them in the development of their faith.

Description

On the eastern side of Arivechi, Mexico, there is a dirt road that winds its way up into the Sierra Madre Mountains.  The road is not paved, there are no guardrails and it seems the only way to know if you're heading in the right direction, is to maintain your ascent while staring directly into the blinding sun.  It is on this road at an elevation of roughly 7,500 ft that you will find, Tarachi one of the many small towns in the area. Almost 60 years ago, the Catholic Church abandoned the town and today the community is left to pray to images of the Catholic saints. Tarachi is one of many towns high up in the Sierra Madre where we will be doing ministry during the summer.
