Kazanga Makonda Ceremony For The Nkoya People of Kazungula Distric in Chief Moomba

"Every year the Nkoya people of Kazungula district in Southern Province come together and celebrate the Kazanga Makanda traditional ceremony to appreciate the good gesture by the “gods” for giving them a good harvest. They come from all places, villages and Towns to come and be part and parcel of the celebrations characterized by dancing, singing, clapping and beating of drums.

The representation was from government to NGOs and for the first time ever spiritual representation. This is what made the Kazanga ceremony of 2011 very unique in nature.

It looked like it was not going to work at all because all indicators humanly speaking were not very positive but hey, our thoughts are not His thoughts neither our ways His ways. Pastor Jeff kept pacing up and down and little impatient at times. The pastor was well reserved composed and less words were said by him before he preached may be for fear of loosing that which was given him by the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Jeff was so pregnant that he kept asking if it was going to work and if it did exactly at what time of the ceremony would he deliver his baby. Dressed in a white shirt and black trousers as though to say holiness above and impure here on earth without JESUS, the servant of the Lord standing tall and erect, the sun reflecting it’s brilliant light on his head - and  right in front of the Chief seated on his “throne."

Pastor Jeff for the first time in the history of the Kazanga Makanda ceremony  prayed to the glory of God and preached the gospel of Jesus Christ as though he was not in the presence of the chief. Like Paul before Felix was Pastor Jeff before Chief Moomba. He is the first white American preacher to stand and break the ground for many more preachers to come. He has become the David Livingstone of our times.

What was nice about this was that all chiefs from the surrounding kingdoms were witnesses to what God did on this historic day. People all over were shocked that this years’ ceremony was different because it had an element of God in it. The chief who is battling diabetes and has since been amputated found solace in Pastor Jeff’s message. There were over 1500 people that were present to witness the preaching.

As though not enough, the ever zealous Pastor went on preaching the next day in what became to be Kazanga Sunday church. As the ceremony progressed, more people began to come such that we had more people on Sunday than were on Saturday which made the largest church for the hour.

When pastor Jeff preached, he used a lot of wisdom as he spoke without offending the traditionalists but went smoothly to declare the word of God. No one who attended the meeting regretted and one of the prince there mended his life and has since made a commitment  to live for the Lord. It was so awesome to hear what the Lord was saying through this man of God."
