Love Doesn’t Quit II
I heard a story recently about a mother of 6 who was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after she was found pregnant with her 7th child. For her and her husband, it was out of the question to undergo radiation and chemotherapy because of the immense negative and potential fatal effect on their baby. She brought her child to full term and delivered a healthy baby girl. Unfortunately, during this time, the cancer metastasized and she died one year later. She paid the greatest price, her own life, to ensure the health of her child.
After contemplating that story, it made me consider what it would feel like to be that girl growing up. Upon understanding what her mother did for her to live, I think it would motivate her to do something significant with her life. Once she realized what her mother went through to give her a chance at life, I believe it would motivate her to live beyond average.
This is a perfect illustration of what Jesus Christ did for all of us during His life on earth. His ministry showed everyone who our Heavenly Father is; then He died so that all would receive new spiritual life and a new spiritual Father. To accurately interpret Christ’s life would mean that we live for a greater purpose. It would put a demand on us not to live for ourselves but for the Kingdom of God. If Christ died to make us free from spiritual death and bring us into vital relationship with our Heavenly Father, can’t His resurrected life live powerfully on the inside of us and cause us to display His glory on earth? Wouldn’t that be a fair trade?
That is exactly the kind of transaction God had in mind when He sacrificed His only Son to ransom our lives from destruction. It’s as if God said to Himself, “If I give my Son, than I can ask them to give their lives for Me. If I initiate the sacrificial life I desire from them, then they will know what type of life I want them to live!” The reason our Heavenly Father sacrificed His Son was so that the entire world would have an opportunity to know Him. You play a vital role in this plan when you choose to sacrifice your own “rights and privileges” to live for Him.
God has called each of us to great things! It isn’t the size of our assignment or budget that matters, but whether we are obedient and faithful to follow through. If our assignment seems small, won’t God do supernatural things through it? If our task seems too big, can’t He enable us through His power to accomplish it? God is the originator of destiny and the creator of assignment. Let us seek Him to find what our destiny and assignment is on earth!
Happy seeking!
