Meet Maria
While in the village of Siambaulwa I took the team to go see the dingy, dirty, little hole in which supplied the whole village with water. The community dug this hole for water so they wouldn’t have to walk the 5 km (3 miles) to the nearest source of clean water. The team was amazed that these beautiful people had to drink such awful unclean water. After taking some pics and discussing the cost of drilling a well for the people, we headed back to camp. Along the way we meet this sweet old lady named Maria. We could tell by her walk and the fact that she had a cornstalk for a cane, that her body was in pain and not in the condition it should be. We greeted her in Tonga which gave her the idea that we were fluent Tonga speakers. As she rattled off in Tonga I tried to catch at least a familiar word or hand jester. Finally I caught the word pray and through a bit of sign language figured out that she needed prayer for her paining legs and back. We all gathered around her and prayed for the restoration of her body that the Bible promises. After we finished praying she continued to try and talk to us in Tonga in which we couldn't understand a single word. So we took her back to our camp and translator, only to find out what we already knew she wanted prayer for her paining legs and back. Through the translator we asked her if she believed in Jesus and that He could heal her ailing body. Her reply, “Of course, he created me!” So we prayed for her again. Putting our faith into action we asked her how she felt. She said she felt a bit better. But out God is a God who heals all the way not just a bit. So we prayed again. As we began to pray for the third time her faith was aroused and she dropped her cain in a declaration of her healing. When we finished praying she was healed!! I pick up her cain asking her if she still needed it. She said no but she would throw it in the field as she went. We watched her as she walked away and sure enough when she got to the field she threw the cain. I believe at that moment she declared her healing. The LORD bought our healing at the cross it is only our job to walk in it. No matter what our age is!
