“My Teaching is not my own…”

“But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”  John 3:21

“My teaching is not my own it comes through Him who sent me.”  John 7:16

After a few months of weekly Bible studies with the men and women of Ndele, they were wanting to dive even deeper into the word of God.  Hungry for some meat they began asking questions about baptism and prophecy.   Understanding what they were getting at yet sensing a bit of confusion I decided it best to begin to teach about the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the gifts that come with it.  Knowing that people from many different denominations attend this Bible study, I was a bit nervous to dive into this subject, but knew it was time.  Before the Bible study started a man named Henry came up to me and shared that he has had some back problems and would like me to pray for him.  Knowing that the LORD had a powerful message prepared for that day would strengthen his faith I told him we would pray after the teaching.  As I began to teach the Holy Spirit took over bringing forth truths that were beyond what I had expected.  He began teaching them that the Holy Spirit does more that just infill us so that we can have an intimate, personal relationship with Him, He also empowers us to share with those around us so that they may partake in the greatness of this relationship that we were created to be in.   Relating it to their daily life, Holy Spirit brought froth the example of fire.  When a person is infilled with the Holy Spirit it is like having a small flame that is intimate but just enough to keep that one person warm.  By simply blowing on this flame life is added to it and it becomes big, empowered to warm not just one person but an entire village.  As this truth came forth I could see the desire to be empowered arising within these hungry people.  My desire was to lay hands on them all right then and there so they could all receive, but I knew that wasn’t where the Holy Spirit was leading.  He wanted them to know that this power wasn’t from me but from Him.  I left them with the challenge to seek the Holy Spirit and search the scriptures on their own and come next week with testimonies of what He does in their lives.  The meeting didn’t end there we still had to pray for Henry.  After the message that was just spoken everyone’s faith was high so I encouraged them all to come and pray for him.  With everyone gathered around him, I encouraged him to stay seated so he could see how easy it was for him to stand after we pray and God heals him.   Crispin, the local zone manager powerfully lead the pray for healing, showing everyone there that it isn’t the prayer of the white person that heals, but the prayer of the righteous.  Almost before we could say amen Henry shot to his feet declaring his healing jumping up and down as everyone else cheered praising our God who empowers those who seek Him!!!!   I am excited to hear the testimonies next week!
