Meet Matéo, Newest Member of the Overland Family
Posted by: Liezl Pienaar on October 20, 2011 |
I could start this blog with the usual “birth statistics” of our baby boy, but I can’t help but feel that this starts much earlier…about 10 months earlier, when we went through the sad time of losing a second baby. I quote from a newsletter I wrote back then:
Monday began just like any other day. Little did I know that this day would begin a series of events that would break our hearts, but also draw us closer to God and each other…
We’ve always wanted four kids, ever since before we were married. I guess we took hold of Psalm 127:3-5:
When we found out we were expecting, we were thrilled. We looked forward to meet this new life growing inside of me, to “fill our quiver” with another child. But this one, this little one as big as a kidney bean, was not meant to enter life this side of heaven…
I had a miscarriage. It was a sad time, but through it all, we had a supernatural sense of God’s peace and love enveloping us. He was with us, yet, we were not sure that we would try again for another child. It was too painful…but He had other plans, because before we knew it, I was expecting again. Not once did His peace leave me. This time I knew…this baby was made to live on this earth.
And so, nine months later, Matéo made his (very speedy) entrance into this world, a perfect little baby boy, 7.7 pounds, 20.1 inches long. His name means “Dedicated to God”. He is such a joy and we thank God for this precious life every day.
Now we can’t help but feel that our family is “complete”. God is good!
