Mommy Monotomy

Wife. Mother. Teacher. Missionary. In a nutshell, this is my job description. In all honesty so much of my time is spent being a wife, mother and teacher that I don’t often get the chance to be a missionary. It’s almost something I do in my “spare time”, which, by the way, I don’t have a lot of.
I often find myself feeling “deprived” of ministry. But every time I do, God reminds me of what he told me when we started out our missionary journey 13 years ago – that my primary ministry is my husband and children. I confess that it is not always as easy to muster up the passion and enthusiasm to do the mundane and monotonous mommy things than it is to feel passionate and enthusiastic about (for example) the LIFE preschools. And let’s be honest, staying-at-home-being-a-homeschooling-mother-and-wife doesn’t exactly make for glamorous newsletters either ☺!
BUT as I read the blog Raising Arrows (from which I borrowed the title for this blog), I was convicted and encouraged once again that God has blessed me with an amazing, exciting, adventurous and fulfilling ministry. I think I can safely say that I am o.k. with being a “spare time missionary”. In fact, I’ve given myself a new job title. I am now a homemaker-missionary!
