How to Apply

To apply for an expedition, here is what you need to do:

1. DOWNLOAD
The Expedition Application Form and Expedition Pastoral Reference Form. Please note: the forms function best when using Adobe Reader. Download Adobe Reader for free here.

2. COMPLETE
The expedition application form and submit it to our US office along with the $28 application fee.

3. COMMUNICATE
With your pastor about what you are doing and give your them the Pastoral Reference Form. Your pastor will need to submit the form directly to Overland Missions. Instructions for getting the form back to us are included with the form.

4. INTERVIEW
Once we receive both the expedition application form (with fee) and the pastoral reference form, we will contact you to schedule a telephone interview. In most cases, your acceptance will be determined at the conclusion of the telephone interview.

5. SEND DEPOSIT
Once your application has been approved, you’ll be instructed to send in the $200 expedition deposit which will hold your position on the expedition you’ve selected.

6. PREPARE
After recieving your deposit, you’ll be issued with a login to our Expeditions Portal. In the portal you’ll be able to track your preparation and fundraising progress, upload a copy of your passport and download your Expedition Orientation. The orientation will give you comprehensive details about what you will need to do to prepare to be a successful expedition member. It will also address many questions that you have about your time in your destination country. Read through this orientation packet carefully and contact us if you have any questions about the information contained in it.

7. FUNDRAISE
The orientation packet contains information about the schedule of payments that you will be following as well as tips and suggestions for raising funds for your expedition. You will be able to track each donation and payment made towards your expedition in the Expeditions Portal.

8. CONNECT WITH YOUR TEAM
As your departure date draws near, we will connect you to a Facebook group with your expedition teammates.  This group will provide an opportunity for you to connect with your teammates so that you can get to know one another before you meet face-to-face.
