Come and distribute health with us to neglected Villages

HELP DISTRIBUTE HEALTH WITH US IN 2010!

Overland Missions was recently blessed with 100 tons of high-quality nutritional supplements to distribute to people living in the impoverished villages of Zambia. The products will provide greatly needed nutritional compliments to the local Zambian diet, which is low in protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. These supplements will provide fundamental nutrition crucial to the health and development of adults, children, and immune-compromised people with HIV/AIDS.

Proper nutrition not only helps to break the poverty cycle, but can also prevent loss of life – one-third of child deaths worldwide are due to undernutrition caused by poverty. Compromised immune systems render children and adults unable to fight small and great illnesses, from whooping cough to HIV/AIDS. In Zambia, some young children are not even given a name until their second or third birthday in fear they will not live that long.

These supplements are a temporary solution to the critical nutritional needs that Overland is addressing through the SAM Project, which works to establish long-term sustainable nutritional solutions within the village.

HOW YOU CAN PREVENT UNDERNUTRITION CAUSED BY POVERTY:

Would you consider assembling a team from your church or Bible Study to come and help us distribute health to these villages? One-hundred tons is a lot of nutritional supplements, and we need you to aid us in this effort! We want to deploy teams of 2–20 people from May–September to help distribute nutritional supplements, educate people on nutrition, and gather information on villages in our Sector Management areas. We will distribute them firstly at the LIFE Project schools and villages in the Mukuni and Nyawa Kingdoms, and then reach out beyond.

These supplements will provide fiber, protein, antioxidants (which lead to stronger immune systems), and fatty acids (which help develop child brain function and proper growth) to thousands of undernourished people. This is primarily a humanitarian and work mission, but it will also provide an unparalleled opportunity to share the message of Christ with needy people. The cost is $800/7–10 days’ stay, minus airfare and visa cost.
