I Don’t Like The LIFE Project, I Love It!!

Overland Missions Story Blog Image  One of my personal mandates is James 2:14-17: If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food,  and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead AND Matthew 25:35-36: 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’  I don’t even have to do a whole lot to make a HUGE difference in somebody’s life.  The most important thing is for me to say “Here I am Lord, use me” and He does!  There are a few things in life (if any!) that compares with the thrill of knowing; “God chose to use me”, in a situation.  With the LIFE Project, it happens all the time.

Statistics say that 80% of Christians made their decision to follow Christ when they were 14 years or younger.  The reverse is that only 20 % of all Christians accept Christ as adults.  Maybe that is why God says in Luke 18: 16: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  Sadly in Africa, they are the most neglected and vulnerable.  The LIFE Project is changing this for about 475 children in Mukuni Chiefdom through our LIFE preschools.  How great is it to be part of this!  In writing a suitable curriculum for these village children I try to bear in mind that this is our golden opportunity to win these kids for Christ.  LIFE may be the humanitarian arm of OM, but it is definitely NOT ASHAMED of the gospel – we preach Jesus the Anointed One and Him crucified.

I am convinced (after visiting preschools in Livingstone) that our LIFE kids get the best preschool education in Livingstone.

Only in LIFE preschools:

• Can children choose from a range of developmentally appropriate activities
• Does the curriculum include activities like music, movement and art
• Is there an emphasis on character training with the aim to win children for Christ
• Are children encouraged to put health, safety and hygiene lessons to practice to such and extend that parents are actually told by their children why it is important to wash their hands before meals
• Are children with special needs identified AND receive appropriate intervention and care

By doing my share as part of the LIFE team, I am making a very real difference in so many lives, I contribute to make LIFE preschools the best schools in the region AND I get to be used by God.  That’s why I don’t like the LIFE project, I LOVE IT!
