The past year of life and ministry has been wonderful, as the Lord has done mighty things in our lives. This year alone, we were blessed to disciple, teach, and train 51 individuals, representing 18 nations. 29 of these individuals are joining the Overland Missions Team, while the rest are setting out to be ministers of reconciliation wherever they go. It brings us great joy to see leaders being raised in the Kingdom of God, who know that their identity is rooted and built on Christ and His finished work!
In the past year, God has been teaching me and challenging me to have an active faith, and not a passive faith, on a daily basis. Being on the mission field for 9 years now, there are times where things that were once extraordinary become ordinary and normal. In these times, I am always reminded to stay in a place of thankfulness and not to move beyond the simplicity and beauty of the Gospel of Jesus Christ: that Jesus came to Earth, lived a perfect life representing God and man, was crucified, died, was buried, and finally rose from the dead, defeating death, ascending to Heaven to sit at the right hand of God! I am also reminded in these times that my feelings or emotions don’t change the finished work of Christ. I get to live out of my born-again nature and new life, which is the very life of Jesus! In Colossians 2:6-7 it states, “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”
It is one thing to know Jesus, but it is another to walk in Him and live the life He bought for such a high price! I want to continue to grow and live in a place where I truly live out Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on my own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” I pray this encourages you and challenges you to walk in him daily, and that you allow the very life-giving gift of God, the life of Jesus Christ, to lead your every thought and action!
